The general trademark of a manufacturer by which the consumer knows its products. A manufacturer can have multiple brand names. Some manufacturers license their brand names to other producers.
Product name:
Product name is a brand's identification of a product, often a model name, but not totally unique as it can include some product variants. Product name is a key part of the Icecat product title on a product data-sheet.
MiniDV MV930
Product code :
The brand's unique identifier for a product. Multiple product codes can be mapped to one mother product data-sheet if the specifications are identical. We map away wrong codes or sometimes logistic variants.

Hand-held camcorders allow you to record your own video and make photoshots. You can always have such cameras with you to record the important moments of your life and share them with friends or family. You can even make your own movie!
Data-sheet quality: created/standardized by Icecat
The quality of the product data-sheet can be on several levels:
only logistic data imported: we have only basic data imported from a supplier, a data-sheet is not yet created by an editor.
created by Canon: a data-sheet is imported from an official source from a manufacturer. But the data-sheet is not yet standardized by an Icecat editor.

MiniDV MV930

Marketing text Canon MiniDV MV930

The official marketing text of Canon MiniDV MV930 as supplied by the manufacturer
With a widescreen LCD, the compact MV930 is a true 16:9 widescreen camcorder for capturing high resolution video, with additional photo capture to SD card, 25x zoom and DIGIC DV for vibrant colours.

Geared for true 16:9 recording, the MV930 captures video that is ideally suited for playback on the very latest widescreen TVs. During recording, footage is monitored exactly as it will appear on the TV, either on the camcorder's 2.7" 16:9 LCD screen or via the colour viewfinder. Using the LCD's level marker, it's easy to keep the subject lined up. Additional 4:3 shooting is available at the push of a button.

25x optical zoom
The camcorder's 25x optical zoom lens has an Electronic Image Stabilizer and variable zoom speeds, a guarantee of sharp footage every time.

Photo capture
With photos saved to SD card, the MV930 is also a fully functioning digital camera, including Canon's 9-point Artificial Intelligent Auto-focus (AiAF) system that lets you accurately focus on off-centre subjects.

Real colours with DIGIC DV
Whether making a movie or taking a photo, colours are always reproduced as vividly as you remember them with Canon's DIGIC DV. DIGIC DV is a processor that provides two processing paths, one each dedicated to video or stills. That means that the camcorder can treat different kinds of images in the best possible way, as well as allowing photos and video to be shot at the same time.

Easy controls
The MV930 is great for beginners, with a one-push Easy shooting mode that tells the camcorder to switch all key controls to automatic, letting you get on with the most important task of framing the perfect shot. For more creative control, a re-designed layout leaves just six buttons to master as your video skills grow.

Compact and lightweight
Finished off in snow silver, the MV930 weighs a mere 380g, with improved handling and balance all round.

Built-in Lens Cover
There's no need to worry about damaging the MV930's all-important lens since a sliding cover has been conveniently built-in.

Software supplied
The MV930 comes ready supplied with all the software you need to manage both your video and photos: the software solution disc includes Canon's ZoomBrowser for Windows and ImageBrowser for Macintosh.

Image sensor
Total megapixels*
A megapixel (MP or Mpx) is one million pixels, and is a term used not only for the number of pixels in an image, but also to express the number of image sensor elements of digital cameras or the number of display elements of digital displays. For example, a camera that makes a 2048 × 1536 pixel image typically uses a few extra rows and columns of sensor elements and is commonly said to have "3.2 megapixels" or "3.4 megapixels", depending on whether the number reported is the "effective" or the "total" pixel count (as opposed to the 2048 × 1536 = 3,145,728 finished image pixels).
0.8 MP
Sensor type*
A sensor is a convertor than measures a physical quality (light, temperature etc.) and displays this electronically on a device.
Optical sensor size
Optical sensors are electronic detectors that convert light, or a change in light, into an electronic signal. They are used in many industrial and consumer applications e.g. lamps that turn on automatically in response to darkness. Optical sensors come in many sizes.
Optical sensor resolution
800000 pixels
Effective megapixels (movie)
0.47 MP
Lens system
Optical zoom*
Indicates the optical zoom capacity, which is the number of times that the picture can be enlarged with the optics of the camera.
Digital zoom*
Indicates the digital zoom capacity, the number of times that the picture is enlarged thanks to digital technology.
Focal length range (f-f)
Measure of how strongly the system converges or diverges light. For an optical system in air, it is the distance over which initially collimated rays are brought to a focus. A system with a shorter focal length has greater optical power than one with a long focal length; that is, it bends the rays more strongly, bringing them to a focus in a shorter distance. For an optical system in air, the effective focal length (f and f′) gives the distance from the front and rear principal planes (H and H′) to the corresponding focal points (F and F′).
43.6 - 1090 mm
Compatible memory cards*
Types of memory cards which can be used with this product.
Camcorder tape type*
The type of tape used to record images from a camcorder, e.g. VHS, Video8.
Camera shutter speed
Determines the length of time the shutter lets light pass through the lens to the CCD. Shutter speed and aperture together determine exposure.
1/2000 ~ 1/6
Display diagonal*
Size of the display for this product, measured diagonally, usually in inches.
6.86 cm (2.7")
Display resolution
The number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. It is usually quoted as width × height, with the units in pixels: for example, "1024 × 768" means the width is 1024 pixels and the height is 768 pixels. The higher the number of pixels, the sharper the image.
112000 pixels
123000 pixels
Viewfinder screen size
Minimum illumination
Also known as light sensitivity, this is the smallest amount of light needed for the camera to produce an image of useable quality.

Ports & interfaces
PictBridge *
PictBridge is an industry standard introduced in 2003 from the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) for direct printing. It allows images to be printed directly from digital cameras to a printer, without having to connect the camera to a computer using common connectivity like USB or Bluetooth.
