The general trademark of a manufacturer by which the consumer knows its products. A manufacturer can have multiple brand names. Some manufacturers license their brand names to other producers.
Product name:
Product name is a brand's identification of a product, often a model name, but not totally unique as it can include some product variants. Product name is a key part of the Icecat product title on a product data-sheet.
Product code :
The brand's unique identifier for a product. Multiple product codes can be mapped to one mother product data-sheet if the specifications are identical. We map away wrong codes or sometimes logistic variants.
Category :
With a digital camera all the pictures you make are stored digitally, which means you can instantly view a picture after you have taken it and take as many pictures as you like, without having to buy new films all the time. It is easy to download the pictures from your camera to your computer, either at home or at the shop and edit them before printing. Once they are on your computer, you can easily share your pics with the rest of the world by putting them on-line, or e-mailing them to friends.

Data-sheet quality: created/standardized by Icecat
The quality of the product data-sheet can be on several levels:
only logistic data imported: we have only basic data imported from a supplier, a data-sheet is not yet created by an editor.
created by Sony: a data-sheet is imported from an official source from a manufacturer. But the data-sheet is not yet standardized by an Icecat editor.
created/standardized by Icecat: the data-sheet is created or standardized by an Icecat editor.

Long product name Sony DSC-U20:
The short editorial description of Sony DSC-U20
Cybershot U20 Silver

Marketing text Sony DSC-U20

The official marketing text of Sony DSC-U20 as supplied by the manufacturer
With the Cyber-shot "U" series, Sony has engineered a sub-miniature model without sacrificing image quality or functionality. The lightweight body design turns this into a camera that is light enough to hook to a belt loop, drape around the neck or carry in a pocket. Smaller than many cell phones, the DSC-U20 weighs a scant 4.3 ounces (with battery and media) and offers a host of built-in photographic features.

For more accurate exposure, the camera incorporates a built-in advanced pre-flash metering system. At the time of exposure, the flash automatically fires twice: once to illuminate the subject and calculate correct exposure, then a second time to record the image with the best exposure possible. In addition, the automatic center-weighted focusing system helps ensure accurate capture of any subject.

Designed for impulsive picture taking, the Cyber-shot U20 reduces the time of having to remove and ready a larger camera from its case, as well as the need to set manual controls. The camera offers simple, single-handed operation; slide the door open for immediate powerup and then start shooting. Quick power activation and minimal processing time required between shots makes this one of the fastest shooting digital cameras - capable of capturing "on the fly" shots when other cameras are still preparing to do so.

For one-step USB photo transfer from the camera to a PC, the camera comes bundled with Sony's new Image Transfer software - a completely automated, plug-and-play program that offers quick downloading and storing of all digital photos.

Picture quality
The number (in millions) of light-sensitive picture elements known as pixels actually used by the camera's image sensor (CCD) to record light, and which are reflected to the final number of recorded pixels stored on the memory card.
2 MP
Camera type*
There are a number of common types of digital cameras: compact cameras, bridge cameras, mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras (MILC) and single lens reflex (SLR) cameras. Bridge cameras 'bridge the gap' between the low-end compact and high-end professional (SLR) cameras. Also MILCs populate this mid-segment by combining the larger sensors and interchangeable lenses of DSLRs with the live-preview viewing system of compact cameras.
Compact camera
Image sensor size*
Sensor type*
A sensor is a convertor than measures a physical quality (light, temperature etc.) and displays this electronically on a device.
Still image resolution(s)*
List of image resolutions that supported by device.
352 x 288,480 x 480,640 x 360,640 x 424,640 x 480,720 x 400,720 x 480,1024 x 768,1200 x 1200,1280 x 720,1280 x 960,1280 x 1280,1600 x 1064,1600 x 1200
Image stabilizer*
This camera function compensates for slight shaking movements caused by an unstable position and ensures smooth footage even in suboptimal conditions.
Image formats supported*
The type of image files that the device can use/display e.g. gif, JPEG (jpg).
Lens system
Optical zoom*
Indicates the optical zoom capacity, which is the number of times that the picture can be enlarged with the optics of the camera.
Focal length range (f-f)
Measure of how strongly the system converges or diverges light. For an optical system in air, it is the distance over which initially collimated rays are brought to a focus. A system with a shorter focal length has greater optical power than one with a long focal length; that is, it bends the rays more strongly, bringing them to a focus in a shorter distance. For an optical system in air, the effective focal length (f and f′) gives the distance from the front and rear principal planes (H and H′) to the corresponding focal points (F and F′).
5 - 5 mm
Focus adjustment*
Auto focusing (AF) modes*
Modes on the camera for auto-focusing, including continuous focusing and one shop focusing.

ISO sensitivity*
A measure of a photographic film's sensitivity to light.
Light exposure modes*
The different lengths of time for the exposure for a camera e.g. longer exposure for low light.

White balance *
Technique in photography and image processing, which involves a global adjustment of the intensities of the colors (typically red, green, and blue primary colors). An important goal of this adjustment is to render specific colors – particularly neutral colors including white – correctly.
