HDV1080i Canon CMOS imaging
Canon's CMOS expertise, developed for our range of professional EOS D-SLR cameras, has been transferred to video. The HV10's 2.96MP Canon HD CMOS video sensor allows capture of HDV1080i footage with true 1920x1080 pixel resolution, for images of stunning clarity and sharpness. Standard DV recording is also possible.

Super compact
Packaging professional-quality HDV1080i into an elegant upright body, the HV10 reshapes HDV, bringing the highest resolution handheld video into the home.

Instant AF and Focus Assist
The increased resolution of HD highlights focusing errors. Canon's new Instant AF is an innovative hybrid AF system that results in extremely quick and accurate auto focus. Focus Assist is an aid to manual focusing.

DIGIC DV II for HD
Canon's next generation DIGIC DV II processor is optimised for the increased processing requirements of HD. Split path processing offers simultaneous video and digital photo capture.

Canon precision lens
Inheriting 48 years of experience in broadcast lens manufacture, the quality of Canon camcorders begins with the glass: aspherical lens elements and Super Spectra coating eliminate visual imperfections. A new Super Range Optical Image Stabilizer counteracts unwanted vibrations across the frequency range.

Advanced photography
The HV10 integrates advanced digital photography functions into a compact frame, including a one-push histogram display to monitor brightness levels. Up to four 3MP photos per second can be stored on convenient miniSD card: you can even capture 2MP screen shots straight from a movie, either during recording or playback.

Native widescreen
HDV is a widescreen format and the HV10 is optimised for 16:9 recording. A high resolution 2.7" LCD and widescreen colour EVF display footage exactly as it is recorded. A level marker on the LCD makes it easier to line up the perfect shot.

Built-in video light and flash
A built-in video light allows recording to continue in poorly lit conditions. A dedicated flash for stills is provided.

Analogue-to-digital conversion
Analogue-to-digital conversion is possible via AV input - older home movies can be easily archived to digital tape for safekeeping.

Full connectivity
Digital photographs can be transferred to a computer or printed out directly using PictBridge. Via Firewire, footage can be sent to and from a computer for editing.
